Q: What happened to the other foundations that Selby used to administer? A: As of 2009, the Selby Foundation no longer provides administrative services to the foundations listed below. Q: Can I apply for a grant if our parent organization is outside of the geographical area (Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto Counties) but supports people within the required area? A: Yes - even if your parent organization is located out of our required geographical area but you are supporting groups or students within the area, you may apply for a grant. Preference is given to organizations located within the geographic designations. Q: Should I schedule a meeting with the Foundation President prior to submitting a grant proposal? A: An appointment is not required before submitting an application. However, non-profit executives are encouraged to have an annual strategic discussion appointment with our President, Dr. Sarah Pappas, where a review of all funding priorities can be discussed. Any specific questions regarding either the application process or the terms of outstanding grants should be directed to Evan Jones, Grants Manager.
Q: If I represent an educational facility, is there anything special that needs to be done to apply for a grant? A: Yes - any school should contact the Foundation office to verify whether or not that school is eligible to apply prior to actually filing an application.
Q: Can I apply for a grant online? A: Not yet. We are currently working to make online submissions a reality, but for now you may only view the guidelines on the website. Grant applications must still be submitted via mail or dropped off in person.
