  1. Why are there multiple foundations shown on the William G. Selby and Marie Selby Foundation website?

To assist the communities served and to leverage the professional talent of the Selby Foundation staff, administrative assistance is offered to other private grant-making organizations.  Each of the foundations admnistered has its own board of directors and is distinctly separate from the other foundations administered by the Selby Foundation staff.  Please note the following geographical limitations

Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Foundation - Sarasota County
Greenfield Foundation - Nationwide [but must be invited by a trustee to apply]
Harry Sudakoff Foundation - Sarasota County
Bank of American Client Foundation - Sarasota County
    Paddock Foundation - Sarasota County
    Beattie Foundation - Sarasota County
Sarasota County Foundation - Sarasota County
    Posey Foundation - Nationwide

  2. If I have received funding from one Foundation, am I eligible to apply to any of the other Foundations during the same year?

No - application for the Selby Scholar Scholarship Program is done during your senior year in high school, with the exception of students graduating from Manatee Community College.

  7. Is there a format where I can ask a question and someone at the Foundation will respond?

Yes - there is a button at the end of this page to contact the Foundation office

  8. Can I apply for a grant if our parent organization is out of the geographical area but support people within the required area?

Yes - even if your parent organization is located out of our required geographical area but you are supporting groups or students within the area, you may apply for a grant. Preference is given to organizations located within the geographic designations.

  9. Should I schedule a meeting with the Foundation President prior to submitting a grant proposal?

An appointment is not a requirement before submitting an application.  However, nonprofit executives are encouraged to have an annual strategic discussion appointment with Debra Jacobs, where a review of all funding priorities can be discussed.  This meeting can be scheduled with Joan McArdle, the office manager.  Any questions regarding grants, either proposals or existing grants, should be directed to Jan Noah, Grants Manager.
