ordelia Lee Beattie was a concert violinist who retired to Sarasota and became a musician in the Florida West Coast Symphony. Mrs. Beattie established this foundation in 1973 in memory of her husband, Edward William Beattie. The grantor's lifelong interest was in music and fine arts and requested that the Foundation focus on the various area organizations in Sarasota County.
r. Posey was an accomplished sculptor with a representational style. Mrs. Posey was also an artist. Mr. Posey established this foundation to provide graduate assistance for art students with a major in either painting or sculpture of the traditional kind. Since 1986, scholarships have been awarded for students studying at the master's level.
